THE ATMOSPHERE

In a small street, in the village of Tielrode, we discovered Arck B&B. Nestled in a modern building with generous windows, we were eager to discover the interior. On our way to the front door, we discovered the small "shop" where Nele, the owner and interior designer, collects and sells designer objects that she has used to decorate her house and B&B. There are so many beautiful objects that there is something to please everyone!

As soon as we arrived in the house, we were struck by the light shining through it. The hallway led us into the dining room (the breakfast room) which is separated from the garden by a large bay window. The architecture and interior decoration blend several styles together. It is difficult to describe but the overall effect blends perfectly and creates a feeling of harmony. Some rooms are almost minimalist whilst others are more dressy and colourful. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.

THE HOTEL

The Bed & Breakfast has three rooms, a kitchen and a shop. Each room is different and has been designed and decorated by Nele. The kitchen, very bright and clean in light colours, reminds us a bit of a Nordic style. As for the rooms, Nele has had fun creating completely different styles. On the ground floor, you will find a rather dark room in shades of anthracite grey. Upstairs there are two other rooms, one is green and wooded, and the other is white with a minimalist feel. It's a real palette of colours that allows us to feel and discover the variety of design styles Nele likes to work with, which shows off her signature style.

THE service

Our favourite part of any stay in a hotel is the breakfast on offer. With Nele, you won't be disappointed. Every morning she will concoct a complete and varied breakfast, adapted to your taste. The hens from the garden provide the eggs, the rest of the products offered are obviously local, seasonal and organic as much as possible (eg, TheePursang). For Nele, this part of the stay is also important, she creates a welcoming environment, meets her guests and shares with them all the good and beautiful aspects of her home. If you feel like stretching your legs, there is a canal at the end of Nele's garden and she suggests that you order bikes in advance so that they are ready for your arrival.

Nele proposes more ways of providing you with a memorable stay. You can dine in her house (adjoining the B&B) whilst being served by a chef for the whole evening. This is an unmissable experience, Nele's house is exceptional, stylish and bright and she is happy to share it with her guests.

THE HOst

As you have probably gathered, Nele is an interior designer and the driving force behind her B&B. For her, friendliness is key and you feel it when you meet her. Flexible and attentive, Nele always tries to please her customers. She takes the time to make you a delicious breakfast and to share with you the best addresses for local activities. There is also a large choice of decorative objects either in her shop or at addresses which she will share with you.

SUSTAINABILITY

Nele explains that everything in the house has been chosen with care. The factors which influence her choice of objects are the origin of the items, Belgian or European, their sustainability and the environmental impact. It is a global and coherent commitment for her country and her planet which we admire and respect. Some of our favourite design elements and their creators are: the ceramics from Pieter Stockmans, the tableware from Valerie Object, cups, linen sheets from Verilin...) The beauty care products are different in each room but all organic: Likami, Sleepje, Stop the water while using me. Nele’s B&B has the Green key label. This implies a sustainable and efficient management of waste (rainwater), and energy (solar) but also requires the use of ecological cleaning and care products.

THE little extra

The shop where Nele offers a few of the decoration elements she has used in her own house and B&B. We love it !
Antwerp is less than an hour away by bike, and it's all flat - ideal for a bicycle break. For those who like to "spa" in the open air, a hot tub is available in the garden with a view of the nearby fields. Restaurants are within cycling distance. As you might have guessed, it's one of our favourites.
