Bed & Breakfast near the " Hautes Fagnes"

A guesthouse with a real blend of art, architecture, authenticity and quality in  The “Pays de Herve” In Belgium

Opus 35 is located on the main square of the charming village of Montzen in the Pays de Herve. Beneath its authentic and rural look, Opus 35 hides an extremely modern and high-tech interior architecture and design. The space is large and bright. The white walls blend harmoniously with the colourful furniture and works of art. We feel good and comfortable in that house despite the heat outside. Marc, the owner, explains to us that some of the walls are made of lime which allows a self-regulation of the temperature in the house and gives it that delicious freshness.

The Bed and Breakfast has a lounge bar, a dining room, a large terrace and 5 bedrooms upstairs.

The rooms are all different sizes, two of them are larger. Each one offers a different space, cleverly designed by Marc and Conny, the owners and hosts of Opus 35. The search for design and the harmony of the bedrooms are consistent with the ground floor’s decoration: white walls with pastel-coloured accessories and light grey concrete flooring. Everything has been designed with care: from the choice of custom-made beds, to the beauty products from the "Aesop" brand or the linen bed sheets from the Belgian brand, Verilin. Finally a high-tech touch and a demotic system are added to this: from the keys, to the opening of the door, to the adjustment of lights and shutters.

THE service

Breakfast is included in the reservation, prepared and served by the guests most of the time. The food offered is mostly locally produced. You will find local specialities such as Herve cheese and Aubel syrup. Breakfast is served in a luxury handmade porcelain service by Belgian artist Piet Stockmans. For beer lovers, La Brisse and Youp, brewed in Aubel, are waiting for you in the fridge of the bar.

If you would like to discover the region by bike, Conny and Marc will be happy to provide you with some.

It was Conny and Marc who, together, imagined, designed and decorated the house. The bet has really paid off! Charming hosts, they took the time to take us into their world and show us around. Originally from the region, they will have plenty of advice and recommendations for you. Moreover, if you are looking for a good table, they recommend the APpetit and the Beluga 172 by Hans van Wolde in Maastricht.

Conny and Marc are great lovers of Belgian art and artists. Their bed and breakfast is a great promotion of it. At Opus 35, you will eat local, the products served for breakfast come from local producers.
