FOR AN ENTERTAINING FAMILY STAY IN THE PRETTY AND PICTURESQUE VILLAGE OF RETRANCHEMENT, BETWEEN KNOKKE AND CADZAND-BAD IN THE NETHERLANDS
THE ATMOSPHERE
After crossing the fields and a small canal, we
enter the pretty and picturesque village of Retranchement. Situated between
Knokke and Cadzand, this village is lined with charming Dutch houses and hosts
one and only hotel: The Bliss. We are welcomed by Ysabel, a charming lady, who
mainly takes care of the management of the hotel. The atmosphere that we feel is
simple, friendly and family orientated set in the decorative style of a
"beach bar". The white-beamed bar and restaurant are decorated with
wooden tables and mismatched chairs, colourful details and plants. The menu is
handwritten on kraft paper suspended by a broomstick and a rope. Two large
terraces are as well as a corner of the room reserved exclusively for children,
provide a feeling of space. The hotel has a spirit where you simply enjoy every
moment in the respect of the environment.
THE HOTEL
Opened since 2018, the hotel offers 9 rooms, each of them more quirky, offbeat and original than the other. Each room has a specific theme: one is more fun, the superhero; the other is more friendly, the jungle. One thing is certain: the surprise effect is there (we have a little preference for the jungle). This unreal and authentic environment was completely inspired and designed by the founders and some of their friends.
THE service
The Bliss hotel, restaurant and deli is aptly named. The hotel opens its doors to greedy stomachs (even those accompanied by their dogs) in its restaurant located inside the hotel and on the two terraces. Here you can enjoy a hearty breakfast, brunch and other healthy, vegetarian and organic snacks. The lemonades, smoothies and sangrias are homemade, at the Bliss, no need to order a Coke. Products used in the kitchen can also be purchased, as can spreads, jams, tapenades, etc.
THE HOsts
Ysabel and Denis is the story of a brother and a sister who, both emotionally attached to the village of Retranchement, have always dreamed of opening a small hotel. So it is with 4 of them, each accompanied by their respective companion, as well as a bunch of friends, that they embarked on the adventure. Forming a creative and original quartet, they redecorated the hotel entirely. At Le Bliss, only three of them work in the hotel on a daily basis, everyone cooks and participates in the friendly atmosphere of the hotel.
sustainability
From the hotel's decorative furniture to your breakfast plates, you will recognize the eco-friendly commitment of the hosts. When possible, the furniture has been picked in second-hand shops. Sensitive to the environment, the guests serve only simple, healthy, vegetarian and locally grown and organic dishes. Also, their cleaning products are all environmentally friendly and they neutralize all energy consumption, which makes them a member of the "CO2 neutral" label and also a member of the responsible and sustainable hotel industry.
The Little Extra
At Bliss, everything is thought out for both the children and the parents. It is possible to privatize the entire hotel and restaurant for a family event with children.
