THE ATMOSPHERE
In the middle of the beautiful cobbled streets of Bruges we reach the door of Monsieur Ernest. We quickly fall under the spell of the heritage of this old house decorated with modernity. We pass through lounges with "Jungle" wallpaper with period mouldings before climbing a beautiful period wooden staircase that cracks. The hotel bar is trendy in the evenings. When we cross it, we arrive on a terrace by the canal which offers a privileged view. If the temperatures drop and the brightness diminishes, sheep's wool blanket and small ambient lights attached in the trees will warm you up.
THE hotel
The 28 rooms of the hotel were completely restored in 2015 in a sober and modern way, all in a similar fashion. The Monsieur Ernest, located in the St. James district of Bruges, is actually not the only "Monsieur" hotel of the group. Next to it and in the same spirit is Monsieur Maurice, located a few hundred metres from Monsieur Ernest. Three other projects are currently under development: Monsieur Cyril and Mademoiselle Emma in Bruges and Monsieur Rémy in Ghent. These projects have very different ambitions from each other, but are just as exciting and fascinating.
THE SERVICE
The service in the two current hotels is similar to the service you will receive in a 3-star hotel. Everything will be clean, beautiful and good, and this in all simplicity, what more could you ask for? The new projects will offer a unique experience and will go beyond the usual hotel experience with services such as yoga classes, seminars, free city tours and artist meetings.
THE HOST
We met Jeroen, passionate, calm and the owner of the Monsieur Hotels group. Entrepreneur and visionary, he also manages the development and creation of new concepts. After a trip to a charming hotel in Barcelona and a love at first sight for a house in Bruges, Jeroen left his former profession behind to embark on this project. And as you can see, he is also a father.
