Quinta de Sao Bernardo
IN BRIEF
Nestled at the end of a small road, you will discover Quinta do Sao Bernardo on the banks of the Douro river.
Surrounded by vines and water, the hotel's green setting is bewitching and in June the vegetation is lush.
Diogo who welcomes us, tells us that the property belonged to his grandfather, where the wine was produced as an amateur. It was his father who first took over the vineyard and started the production of "professional" wine. The main house was converted in 2016 into a hotel and gourmet restaurant.

You can enjoy the magnificent view and delicious home-made food in the winter garden, or on one of the many shaded terraces.
The overflowing pool with its refreshing water will help you bear the heat. Its dark blue colour contrasts nicely with the green of the surrounding vines.
In short, from the moment we arrived, the place and its hosts delighted us.
THE HOST - THE SERVICE
Diogo and his wife Marcela run the hotel. Conviviality and the art of hosting run in their blood. This young couple gives a real soul to the place, their warm welcome and the high quality of service, blend wonderfully and invite us to enjoy every moment.
Indeed, after dropping off our luggage, we received a welcome drink on the terrace from which we could enjoy the splendid view of the Douro. May the holidays begin!
Breakfast is served on the terrace with products from the garden and local producers whenever possible.
The hotel's restaurant also offers a light lunch menu and a tasting menu every evening depending on what is available
SUSTAINABILITY
Marcela and Diogo produce some of the fruit and vegetables served at the Quinta, the rest is sourced from small local producers whenever possible. All the amenities are refillable (but the small hand soap "Claus" which is a gift to guests). No bottles in the Quinta and no plastic use in the hotel when it comes to bottles, garbage can bags, straws and so on.
THE LITTLE EXTRA
Tour of the winery and tasting of 8 different wines for 50€ with Ricardo, the cellar master who does this with passion.
It is also possible to borrow a kayak or Paddle and book a boat tour.
